Initial Consultation 850x567A 2007 study which focused on a 7 year period of care seeing a Chiropractor as the primary care physician compared with traditional medicine showed some outstanding results.

Based on a sample of 70,274 participants it was shown that those using a Chiropractor as their primary care physician showed:
62.0% less outpatient surgeries and procedures
59.0% less hospital days
60.2% less in hospital-admissions
and 85.0% less pharmaceutical costs (1)

Pretty amazing isn’t it? Who would of thought that using conservative care such as chiropractic would result in better outcomes compared with consuming over the counter and prescription pharmaceuticals which have many known side effects?

When approaching spinal health it is important to look at all the information out there and what may be the best option for your health. One must remember when going to a medical doctor that their training is based around the use of medicine (drugs), one must also consider that when visiting a private surgeon that they may be biased toward prescribing surgery.

After many years of the use of over the counter drug, ibuprofen being recommended for back pain by medical doctors, it has now been shown as ineffective according to 13 clinical trials published in the British Journal of Medicine (2). Instead it warned that the use of this medicine may cause liver problems – as much as 4 times more likely than those of us not using the drug.

When looking at improving your health, we should always look at conservative approaches first – something Chiropractors call “health care”, not “sick care”.
